My first involvement in the ‘Arts and Crafts Scene’ was in 1990 when my husband and I started participating in craft shows all over the southeast. They were family affairs as our three children (all under the age of 9) and our parents all contributed. That was our introduction to the manufacturing, marketing, and selling of handmade items. As our business grew - By These Hands was founded in 2000.
We had been looking for a business where we could incorporate our love for arts and crafts as well as satisfy our desire to provide a venue for other artisans. All along, we wanted other ‘stay at home moms, crafty people and business owners’ to have a venue for displaying their creations to the world. In 2009, we expanded our existing business by establishing - By These Hands, Inc. and this e-commerce website. Our business is owner-operated with a staff of 8 to make this website a reality. Still today, we love the freedom of expression and sense of accomplishment we feel through arts and crafts.
